Mr. K.C. Withrow departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He was born in Rutherford County on Feb. 10, 1930, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Olivia Lowe Withrow. He was a graduate of Green Bethel High School in Cleveland County, NC.

Mr. Withrow earned his Funeral Services diploma at the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City, New York and earned his license as a mortician through the North Carolina State Board of Mortuary Science, May 6, 1963. As of 1966, Mr. Withrow was also a licensed barber.

Always active in the Cleveland County community, he worked as a barber, a Notary Public, worked for various funeral homes prior to current ownership, served with various civic groups such as the NAACP, the Masonic Lodge No. 693, Hopewell Lodge .No. 12; and was on the ballot for Cleveland County Coroner in 1969.

He opened his funeral home business at 309 East King Street in Kings Mountain, North Carolina in 1976 under the initial name of Peoples Funeral Home; but was changed to Withrow Funeral Home shortly thereafter. His professional accomplishments included "Professional of the Year" in 1990 by the Western District of the Funeral Directors and Morticians Association of North Carolina, Inc.,  "Outstanding Contribution to Funeral Service" Award (2001), and he was recognized as a "Life Member" by the National Funeral Directors and Morticians, Inc. 

K.C. Withrow is survived by his loving wife Daisy Withrow, Shelby, NC; son, Kenneth and daughter in-law Rebecca, Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Thomas Andrew and Rachel Alexis Withrow; six sisters, Patricia Withrow, Lawndale, NC: Charlene Withrow, Kings Mountain, NC; Mae Cole, Shelby, NC, Leola Brown, Helen Withrow and Marie Johnson, Jamaica, NY; and two brothers, A.C. Withrow, New Orleans, La; Joe Louis Withrow, Buffalo, NY; along with godchildren Nedra Maddox and Craig Maddox Jr.
